Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harjan Varsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belfort comes to the cage accompanied by Burn It To The Ground. Varsi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hiski Salomaa - Tiskarin polkka kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Varsi scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Varsi misses with a left hand
letting Belfort counter with a right hand.
Belfort lands a lovely overhand right.

Belfort shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Belfort performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Belfort wants to pass to mount but Varsi is defending the position.
Belfort thows a huge punch but Varsi dodges it nicely.
Varsi tries to roll over but Belfort keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belfort is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Varsi reverses the position - he's now on top in Belfort's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belfort is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Varsi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Varsi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fedor Belfort.

and Varsi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Belfort counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Varsi slaps away a takedown attempt from Belfort, before circling back to the center of the mat.

letting Varsi counter with a right hand.
Belfort throws a low kick, looking for Varsi's leg but Varsi calmly moves out of range.
Belfort has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Belfort there as he acknowledges the shot.
Belfort misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Varsi leaves Belfort with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Belfort closes the distance and clinches up with Varsi, looking for a takedown. Belfort pushes Varsi against the cage but Varsi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice defenses there by Varsi.
Varsi moves away from the strike by Belfort.
Varsi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Varsi throws an overhand right that lands on Belfort's shoulder, as Belfort tries to avoid the shot.
Varsi comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Belfort tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Varsi swivels and escapes.

Belfort bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Varsi manages to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Belfort is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Varsi defends it well.
Belfort is trying to control. Varsi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Belfort wants to work for an arm triangle but Varsi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Varsi is refusing to be controlled, as Belfort sits in half guard.
Varsi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Belfort lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Belfort throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Belfort seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Varsi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Belfort wants to free his trapped foot but Varsi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Harjan Varsi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Varsi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
