Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jonny Fontaine! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rand shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fontaine holds on and takes a little breather. Let's hope that Fontaine has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Rand looking to pass the guard. Rand prevents Fontaine from getting back to his feet. Fontaine keeping moving, preventing Rand from controlling successfully. Fontaine working a defensive guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rand wants to clinch. Fontaine stuffs the takedown. Some wild striking there from Fontaine.
Rand throws a sloppy head kick and Fontaine moves out of range easily. Nice body kick there by Rand. Rand lands a nice looking body kick. Fontaine throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rand sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rand changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fontaine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. A lull in the action here. Rand creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fontaine sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Rand is tying to control. Fontaine wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Fontaine slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Rand makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Fontaine is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rand is controlling him. Fontaine manages to escape and get back to his feet.

He's got his arms around Fontaine's waist but Fontaine gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rand off to one side. Fontaine tries to bum rush Rand with a series of wild strikes but Rand uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Fontaine fails to land with a series of punches.

Rand closes the distance and clinches up with Fontaine, looking for a takedown. Rand pushes Fontaine against the cage but Fontaine circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rand takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Fontaine doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fontaine manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonny Fontaine dominated that round. That's time! Rand's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rand seems to have got his legs back now. Danny Rand is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rand scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rand in particular looking to stall. Fontaine keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Fontaine is staying active underneath Rand, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fontaine holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Fontaine is in trouble now - Rand has advanced to mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rand is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Fontaine lands a body punch in the clinch. Rand pulls guard. Fontaine decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Rand misses with a takedown attempt - Fontaine sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Fontaine misses with a wild combination.
Rand scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Fontaine is trying to buck Rand off. Rand goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fontaine has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rand but great work by Fontaine.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Rand shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fontaine's guard. Fontaine trying to keep a closed guard but Rand is proving a slippery customer.

Rand looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Nice takedown defense from Fontaine. No joy for Rand on that attempt. Rand bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rand trying to control the position but Fontaine is working away. Fontaine is looking for a sweep. Rand lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Rand has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Fontaine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rand is looking for a sweep. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rand gets the takedown into side control. Rand tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rand tries to move into full mount but can't pass Fontaine's legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rand working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Fontaine gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Fontaine reaches up and holds on to Rand to control the position. Fontaine wants to hold on but Rand pushes him away. Rand tries to control but Fontaine wriggling away. Fontaine is trying desperately to improve position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fontaine tries to hold on but Rand postures up. Rand thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Fontaine is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Fontaine tries to control the position but Rand now has his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fontaine is really stuck here.
Rand wants to control but Fontaine is keeping busy. Fontaine is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
