1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, rampage jackson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! jackson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dela Cruz can't keep his opponent in guard - jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dela Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. jackson sitting and controlling from the half guard. I looks like jackson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. jackson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. jackson passes to side control. A lull in the action here. You can see the frustration on Dela Cruz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dela Cruz is trying to get back to half guard. Dela Cruz is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. jackson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Dela Cruz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. jackson is controlling Dela Cruz's trapped leg to prevent Dela Cruz from advancing to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. jackson looking for submissions off his back. Dela Cruz is trying to control. jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dela Cruz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Dela Cruz tries to control but jackson wriggling away. Dela Cruz sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! jackson is trying to escape the mount.

Dela Cruz wants to control but instead jackson manages to regain half guard. jackson looks gassed! jackson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dela Cruz. Dela Cruz is working for a kimura but jackson is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Dela Cruz is keen to just control but jackson is a slippery customer. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dela Cruz slows the pace down in half guard. Dela Cruz is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Juan Dela Cruz wasn't doing enough on the ground. Dela Cruz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dela Cruz looking to control the position here, rather than advance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Dela Cruz will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
jackson drops his hands momentarily and Dela Cruz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Dela Cruz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with jackson, pushing him back against the cage. jackson tries for a takedown. No joy.
jackson is trying to force a seperation but Dela Cruz has the dominant position. Dela Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dela Cruz tries to land a front kick but jackson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. jackson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dela Cruz shoots for a double leg takedown but jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Dela Cruz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. jackson tries to sprawl but Dela Cruz drives through with a takedown into half guard. Dela Cruz scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Dela Cruz works his way into full mount! Dela Cruz has control of jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dela Cruz lands with some vicious ground and pound - can jackson hang on? Dela Cruz trying to control but he's not successful this time. jackson is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee is taking a good look at jackson as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Dela Cruz!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Dela Cruz. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. jackson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Dela Cruz biding his time, controlling jackson. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Dela Cruz dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Dela Cruz clinches. Dela Cruz is trying to break free. jackson is working for takedown but Dela Cruz is calmly controlling the position for now. Dela Cruz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. jackson misses with a double jab.
jackson shoots for a takedown but Dela Cruz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Dela Cruz feints and as jackson raises his hands in defense, Dela Cruz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dela Cruz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dela Cruz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily. jackson working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. jackson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Dela Cruz wants to pass the guard but jackson is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Juan Dela Cruz. jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. No luck for Dela Cruz with that takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dela Cruz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and jackson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. jackson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Dela Cruz to get to his feet. jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Dela Cruz, looking for a takedown. jackson pushes Dela Cruz against the cage but Dela Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Juan Dela Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of rampage jackson. Dela Cruz ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Dela Cruz fails with the takedown and jackson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by jackson. Dela Cruz decides to pull guard. Dela Cruz pulls jackson in to control the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Dela Cruz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst jackson is controlling him. jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dela Cruz dives on top into guard. jackson keeping moving, preventing Dela Cruz from controlling successfully.
We're going to have a standup here because Juan Dela Cruz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. jackson shoots for a takedown but Dela Cruz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

You can see the frustration on jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dela Cruz throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. jackson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Dela Cruz is refusing to be controlled, as jackson sits in half guard. Dela Cruz is looking for a sweep. jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Dela Cruz. Well Dela Cruz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
