Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Python (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trainer Box (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monty Python has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Monty Python!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trainer Box!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Box misses
and Python cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Box rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Box takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Trainer Box has been cut.
Box throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Python counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Python is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Python fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Box avoids it really well and circles away.
Box misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Box looks to score with a jab to the body but Python is just out of range.

and Python counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Box lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Python will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Trainer Box seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Python drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Python tries to move to mount but Box blocks the move with his legs.

Python tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Python has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Box can do anything to dispel that myth.
Python not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Python drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Python jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Python has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

That has opened up Trainer Box's cut even more.
Python shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Box sprawls well. Box wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Python gets slowly back to his feet.

Python shoots in and drives through. Box sprawls well.

and Python decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Box's guard.
Python will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Monty Python wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Python wants to break free but Box has control.
Python is looking to break free of the clinch but Box has double underhooks.
Box has Python pressed against the cage, preventing Python from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

enabling Box to counter with a crisp jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Trainer Box.
I think Box has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
