PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Braxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grace McClurg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Braxton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Grace McClurg!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClurg misses the shot to the body.
Braxton throws a nice looking combination but McClurg bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Braxton throws an overhand right that lands on McClurg's shoulder, as McClurg tries to avoid the shot.
McClurg throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Grace McClurg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McClurg misses with a wild body shot.
Braxton fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McClurg has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Braxton throws a quick inside leg kick.
McClurg looks gassed!
Braxton lands with a shot to the body.
McClurg takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Braxton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McClurg's guard.
Braxton passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A lull in the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Braxton works to advance to full mount. McClurg defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The referee warns McClurg that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Braxton looking to control and managing it successfully.
McClurg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Braxton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McClurg is trying desperately to improve position.
Braxton controlling the position easily from mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Braxton wasn't doing enough on the ground.
McClurg throws a predictable looking body shot

so Braxton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Braxton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Braxton stays in close to McClurg's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Braxton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Braxton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Braxton postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jack Braxton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Braxton controls the position.
Braxton in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McClurg gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
McClurg is breathing heavily.

Braxton content just to control the position here.
Braxton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can McClurg hang on?

McClurg is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McClurg seems to have recovered his senses.
Braxton postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked McClurg badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Braxton around the waist but Braxton pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Braxton is the winner by TKO! Braxton jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Braxton!
