Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis DeYoung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but DeYoung paws at him with a jab and circles away. DeYoung shoots in for a takedown but Thompson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Thompson wants to clinch. DeYoung tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Thompson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thompson. Thompson connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Dennis DeYoung has been cut. DeYoung tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
DeYoung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
DeYoung fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thompson sprawls well initially but DeYoung persists and gets the takedown into half guard. DeYoung content to control rather than advance. DeYoung's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with DeYoung. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. DeYoung is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Thompson has managed to free his arm - good work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thompson can do anything to dispel that myth. DeYoung is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. DeYoung scores with a couple of good hammerfists. DeYoung not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. DeYoung tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thompson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. DeYoung will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. DeYoung maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Thompson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but DeYoung has cracked it and Thompson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by DeYoung!
