Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rolo Pup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alezander Mataro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pup comes to the ring accompanied by Stone Cold. Mataro has chosen i need a doctor as his entrance music. Alezander Mataro has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rolo Pup! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alezander Mataro! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mataro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pup. Pup closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Pup prevents Mataro from improving his position. Pup seems to be working for a kimura but Mataro defends the submission attempt. Mataro is trying to maintain the position but Pup is very close to passing his half guard. Pup not doing much here.
Pup is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mataro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pup. Pup knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mataro on the ground. Mataro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pup preventing the sweep. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pup accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pup won't allow Mataro to sweep him here. Mataro looking to control.
Mataro has control of Pup's left arm, preventing Pup from doing any damage. Pup wants to stand but Mataro has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Pup drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mataro dives on top into guard. Mataro trying to control the position from guard on top but Pup is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pup wants to sweep here but Mataro controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pup trying to keep a closed guard but Mataro is proving a slippery customer.

Alezander Mataro has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Mataro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mataro with a lazy takedown attempt and Pup counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mataro won't be happy with that. Mataro looks gassed! Pup tries for a kimura but Mataro is defending well. Mataro is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pup's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Mataro tries to get to full guard but Pup has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pup is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pup working the head and body with strikes. Mataro is trying to control but can't.
Pup is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pup is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mataro defends it well. Mataro controlling the position well. Mataro moves into full guard.

Rolo Pup dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mataro gets caught flat footed, as Pup shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Mataro lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pup! Mataro can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pup is looking to escape. Pup can't escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mataro tries to control but Pup wriggling away. Mataro is breathing heavily. Pup tries to hold on but Mataro postures up. Pup regains half guard. Pup slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pup throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Pup looking to control.
Pup working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mataro has passed into half guard!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mataro is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pup has managed to free his arm - good work. Pup trying to control here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alezander Mataro. Pup decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Pup trying to pass the guard but Mataro defending well. Mataro wants to get back to full guard. Pup is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mataro is just riding it out for now. Pup eventually gives up the hold. Mataro is pressing down on Pup's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Mataro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pup working some strikes from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rolo Pup will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. Pup with the ground and pound but Mataro regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Mataro works his way to full guard. Good work. Pup wants to control from the top but Mataro keeps moving. Pup has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mataro is proving hard to escape from. Mataro trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Mataro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mataro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pup stopping the sweep attempt from Mataro. Pup sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mataro's guard. Pup seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Pup is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mataro is just riding it out for now. Pup eventually gives up the hold. Mataro kicks off Pup and gets to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pup stuffs the takedown. Pup changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mataro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Pup advances to mount. Pup misses with a head shot. Mataro wants to control but Pup is having none of it. Pup punishing his opponent with strikes. Pup looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Mataro tries to lock up and control but Pup gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mataro avoids a strike by Pup and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Pup's guard! Fantastic escape!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Mataro looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Pup! Submission of the night perhaps?
