PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenshou Buenafe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenshou Buenafe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Buenafe.
A bone on bone clash there as Buenafe blocks the leg kick.
Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Buenafe circles away quickly and effectively.
Diaz throws a series of punches but Buenafe avoids them all with ease.
Diaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Diaz misses with a head kick.
Ralph Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Buenafe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Diaz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Diaz throws a combination. Buenafe tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Kenshou Buenafe has been cut.
Buenafe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Diaz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Buenafe counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Buenafe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.

Buenafe tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.

Buenafe misses with a knee to the head.
Diaz keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Buenafe's efforts to push away.
Diaz on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Buenafe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Ralph Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenshou Buenafe.
Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Buenafe just stands there and leans against the cage.
Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Buenafe is controlling him.
Buenafe jumps guard but Diaz stands there with Buenafe around his waist. Buenafe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Buenafe walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Diaz lands a leg kick that knocks Buenafe off balance momentarily.
Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Diaz looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Diaz backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Buenafe's temple! It sends Buenafe violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Diaz celebrates and the doctors try to help Buenafe!
