Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Jean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Gerrard!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Franklyn Lucas and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jean moves out of range of the strikes.
Gerrard throws a nice looking combination but Jean bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gerrard swinging wilding here.
Jean chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Gerrard misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gerrard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gerrard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jean shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gerrard pinned against the cage. Gerrard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gerrard throws out a powerful jab.
Gerrard jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jean slips a jab and a cross from Gerrard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jean scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jean looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Jean creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gerrard sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jean is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gerrard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jean.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Jean changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gerrard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gerrard gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Gerrard scores with a jab. Jean acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Gerrard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Gerrard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jean.

Jean goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gerrard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jean but great work by Gerrard.
