PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Russel Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Z (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane comes to the cage accompanied by Song 2- Blur. Z has chosen New York as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Z moves forwards but Kane connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Z thows a body shot but no joy.
Kane digs a good body shot into Z's ribs.
Z throws a body punch but Kane moves out of range.
Kane misses with a body shot

and Z counters with a shoot takedown. Kane fights it but they end up in guard.
Z pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kane is keeping the position for now.
Z thows a big elbow that misses.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Z stands and throws Kane's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Z wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kane, who protects the arm well.

Z has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Z slaps away a takedown attempt from Kane, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Z fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kane manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Z is defended easily by Kane.
Kane looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Z takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Z pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kane back to the cage. Z follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Z closes the distance and clinches up with Kane, looking for a takedown. Z pushes Kane against the cage but Kane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Z shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kane pinned against the cage. Kane gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Russel Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Z.

Z moves in looking to clinch but Kane pushes him off.

Z shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Z showed some decent athleticism there.

Z has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kane defend it? Z steps over the head and cranks it - Kane is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Z!
