Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric McGrath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, enzo Aguiar!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGrath closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Aguiar wants to get back to his feet.

McGrath stands up and beckons Aguiar to his feet.

McGrath shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aguiar's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGrath tries to free his leg and advance position but Aguiar is retaining full guard.

Aguiar has his foot on McGrath's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGrath works his way back into a safe position though.

Aguiar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGrath's guard.

McGrath pushes Aguiar off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
McGrath works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Aguiar tries to keep at a distance but McGrath has taken the fight into the clinch.
Aguiar has McGrath pushed against the cage.
Aguiar is looking to break free of the clinch but McGrath has double underhooks.

McGrath breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Aguiar rushes McGrath and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Aguiar fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Aguiar wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Aguiar looking to slow down the pace here.

McGrath content to slow the pace in the clinch.
McGrath using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Aguiar has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
McGrath tries to land a knee to the head but Aguiar blocks with his arms.
McGrath stalls.
McGrath can't break the clinch.

McGrath has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Aguiar uses from the top position.
McGrath manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Aguiar is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Aguiar tries to hold on but McGrath pushes him away.
McGrath trying to control but Aguiar is having none of it.
McGrath prevents Aguiar from getting the reversal.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McGrath is thwarting Aguiar's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aguiar tries to get to full guard but McGrath has control of the leg.
Aguiar wants to sweep but McGrath has passed to side control!

Aguiar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McGrath counters by clinching up.

McGrath manages to break the clinch.
McGrath tries to close the distance and clinch but Aguiar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and McGrath counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

McGrath shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Aguiar is looking for a sweep. McGrath is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGrath decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

McGrath fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Aguiar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McGrath gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Aguiar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McGrath.

Aguiar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

It looks like Eric McGrath has been cut.

McGrath seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGrath gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Aguiar tightens his grip and picks McGrath up, before dumping him to the ground. McGrath manages to land in guard.
McGrath wants to sweep here but Aguiar controlling him for the moment.

McGrath manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Aguiar swats away the attempt to clinch by McGrath.

and McGrath counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Come on Aguiar - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

McGrath decides to pull guard.

Aguiar stands up from McGrath's guard - Aguiar perhaps looking for a knockout.

McGrath forces Aguiar back against the cage and clinches.

Aguiar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aguiar tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McGrath has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Aguiar is desperately trying to improve his position but McGrath has a good base and remains in mount.

McGrath controlling the position easily from mount.

McGrath is working for a guillotine from mount but Aguiar frees his head quite easily.
Aguiar wants to control but McGrath is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Aguiar looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McGrath showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McGrath content to stall in guard here.
Aguiar looking to hit a scissor sweep but McGrath is one step ahead there.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for McGrath, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
