PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mondial Dos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slade comes to the cage accompanied by Ratatat - Lex. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Slade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mondial Dos!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Slade there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jason Slade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good work by Dos as he checks the leg kick.
Slade misses with a looping right.
Slade just misses with a punch to the body.
Slade swings away with a body shot that misses
and Dos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Jason Slade has been cut.
A left lands for Slade.
Slade swings widly with a right hand
and Dos counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slade cracks a nice hook into Dos's ribs.
Sloppy strikes from Dos. Those never looked like landing.
Slade scoring well with a low kick there.

Slade jabs Dos to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Slade misses with a shot to the body
and Dos counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jason Slade is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Slade throws a shot to the body.
Slade changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Slade is looking to wear down Dos with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Slade misses with an uppercut

and Dos counters with a shoot takedown. Slade fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Slade is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Dos not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Dos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dos doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dos ducks right into an uppercut from Slade.
Slade looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Slade swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Dos holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Dos goes for a takedown in the clinch but Slade prevents it.
Dos has Slade pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Slade manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Slade escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slade slips under a jab from Dos.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slade sprawls well. Slade wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dos gets slowly back to his feet.
Jason Slade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mondial Dos.
Slade just misses with a punch to the body.
Slade thows a leg kick but Dos checks it
and Dos counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Slade tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dos was well out of range. Poor timing from Slade.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slade misses with an uppercut
and Dos counters with a left and a right that stings Slade.
Slade misses with a two punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mondial Dos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jason Slade's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Dos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Slade trying to control the position.
Dos wants to control from the top but Slade keeps moving.

Dos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Slade preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dos trying to control but Slade is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dos stands up over Slade, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Dos forces his way into half guard.
Well, if Dos is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dos not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dos is taking a breather. Slade says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Dos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Slade!
Slade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Slade is looking to improve his position but Dos isn't that keen on the idea.
Slade is working hard here to advance position.
Dos fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Dos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Slade is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dos controlling from mount.

Slade tries to hold on but Dos pushes him away.
Dos throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Slade because Dos loaded up on that one.
Dos punishing his opponent with strikes.
Dos controlling the pace for now.
Dos trying to control but Slade is having none of it.
Dos lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Dos wants to control the action but instead Slade gets a body lock and reverses into Dos's guard! Nice work!

Dos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slade doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slade manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Dos throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Slade escapes and throws Dos's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Dos is looking to regain half guard here but Slade keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mondial Dos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Slade fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dos has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Mondial Dos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Dos clinches with his opponent.

Dos has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Slade regains guard immediately.

Dos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Slade utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mondial Dos has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Slade working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Slade is trying to keep Dos in close.
Dos wants to control from the top but Slade keeps moving.

Slade had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dos defends it easily.
Dos showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dos trying to control the position from guard on top but Slade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dos is looking to work some ground and pound but Slade has wrist control.
Slade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dos postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Dos is stalling in the full guard.
Mondial Dos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Slade has Dos pulled in close to control his posture.

Dos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slade is keeping the position for now.
Dos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dos rushes Slade and presses him up against the cage.
Dos changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Slade fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slade tries to avoid it but Dos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slade to the ground. Slade escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nice body punch from Slade.
Jason Slade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

and Dos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Dos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Slade trying to control from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mondial Dos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
