Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Connor Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gage Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryant has chosen Hicktown by Jason Aldean as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Connor Jackson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gage Bryant! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson shoots for a takedown but Bryant saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Bryant misses with a takedown and Jackson finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Gage Bryant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bryant shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bryant won't be happy with that. Bryant is trying to improve his position. Jackson tries to move to mount but Bryant blocks the move with his legs. Jackson gets to mount! Bryant was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Jackson is working for a guillotine from mount but Bryant frees his head quite easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bryant prevents Jackson from taking his back. Bryant is desperately trying to improve his position but Jackson has a good base and remains in mount. Jackson fails to take his opponent's back. Jackson prevents Bryant from getting the reversal. Jackson looking to control but Bryant is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bryant can't escape the position.
Bryant looks gassed! Jackson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Bryant is working to get back to half guard.
Bryant is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Bryant sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bryant is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jackson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jackson's back! Oooh a big shot gets through from Bryant. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson covers up after that shot from Bryant.
Bryant is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bryant gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bryant gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bryant apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Jackson gets a takedown into half guard. Bryant makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bryant. Jackson stands and steps away. Bryant gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Bryant lands with a nice combination. Jackson backs away looking to recover. Jackson gets the takedown into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Jackson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Bryant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bryant manages to get back to half guard. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Bryant is defending well. Bryant manages to get to full guard.

Connor Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gage Bryant. Bryant has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jackson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bryant. Jackson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bryant is looking for a sweep.

Bryant tries to reverse the position but Jackson maintains control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jackson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Bryant is working to get back to half guard.

Connor Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jackson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bryant is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold. Bryant wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Bryant is breathing heavily. Jackson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bryant keeps working.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bryant works his way back into a safe position though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bryant trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bryant! Bryant is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea.
