PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mini Boxo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrel Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sackett's choice of entrance music: Highway to Hell. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mini Boxo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyrel Sackett!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sackett connects with a single shot there.
Boxo is looking to slow Sackett down with leg kicks.
Boxo looks to clinch
and Sackett counters with a three punch combo that has Boxo backing up. Boxo nods at Sackett to acknowledge the strikes.
Sackett takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Boxo misses with a hook

so Sackett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sackett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sackett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sackett accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boxo wants to stand but Sackett is controlling the position.

Boxo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boxo moves into full mount! Sackett won't be happy about that!
Sackett is squirming around, avoiding Boxo's attempts to control the action.
Sackett is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boxo looking to control but Sackett is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

We're going to have a standup here because Mini Boxo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boxo misses with an uppercut
and Sackett counters with a low kick, right behind Boxo 's knee.
Boxo misses with a double jab
and Sackett counters with a nice uppercut.
Boxo misses with a hook
and Sackett counters with a good, hard body kick but Boxo shrugs it off.
Sackett lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Boxo throws a head kick that misses
and Sackett counters with a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boxo misses with a kick to the body.
Mini Boxo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boxo tries to close the distance and clinch but Sackett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boxo misses with a wild combination.
Sackett thows a left - swing and a miss!
Boxo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Boxo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boxo misses with a right hand
and Sackett counters with a nice body kick.
Sackett waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Boxo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boxo throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

so Sackett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boxo wants to control the position but Sackett says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Sackett takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrel Sackett dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A big right from Boxo misses.
Boxo missing with a left hand there. Sackett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tyrel Sackett seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sackett blocks the body kick.
Boxo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sackett takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Sackett throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Boxo misses with an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boxo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Boxo looks to clinch
and Sackett counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Boxo lands an overhand right.

Boxo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sackett paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boxo misses with a hook to the body
and Sackett counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Sackett throws a nice looking combination but Boxo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Boxo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sackett's head.
Sackett scores with a jab to the body.
Boxo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boxo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Boxo throws an off balance right hand
and Sackett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sackett keeps the fight on the outside.
Boxo misses with a right hand
and Sackett counters with a slapping leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boxo misses with a jab to the body
and Sackett counters with a low kick, right behind Boxo 's knee.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boxo defending well as Sackett loads up on a big left hand.
A slow jab from Boxo misses its intended target.
Sackett will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sackett connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Boxo throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sackett counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boxo wants to land a leg kick but Sackett is out of range.
Boxo misses with a shot to the body

and Sackett counters with a shoot takedown. Boxo fights it but they end up in guard.
Boxo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sackett puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boxo wants to control but Sackett is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sackett not doing much here.
Boxo tries to get to full guard but Sackett has control of the leg.
Sackett slows the pace down in half guard.
Sackett lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sackett prevents Boxo from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sackett not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sackett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boxo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Boxo.
Boxo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Boxo wants to get back to his feet.
Sackett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrel Sackett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Boxo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sackett on the side of the head.
Sackett lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Boxo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Boxo is rocked!
A big left from Sackett misses.
Oh Boxo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Boxo swings away with a body shot that misses
and Sackett counters with a huge right that knocks Boxo out cold! Sackett is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tyrel Sackett! Tyrel Sackett retains his light heavyweight title!
