Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Hawthorne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sid Sandford! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandford shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sandford showed some decent athleticism there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hawthorne looking for submissions off his back. Hawthorne actively working from the bottom here. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Hawthorne manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Hawthorne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sandford pulls his head out easily. Hawthorne actively working from the bottom here. Hawthorne is breathing heavily. Sandford keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Sandford is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Hawthorne wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. What can Hawthorne do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Hawthorne is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sandford pulls his head out easily. Sandford is trying to work for a kimura but Hawthorne is defending well.
Sandford landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sandford controlling the pace. Sandford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawthorne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sid Sandford showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Hawthorne's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sandford can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hawthorne keeping moving, preventing Sandford from controlling successfully. Sandford looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Sandford tries to free his leg and advance position but Hawthorne is retaining full guard. Sandford must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hawthorne looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sid Sandford was stalling too much, according to the referee. Sandford tries a head kick but it misses.
Sandford gets a clinch. Sandford pulls guard effortlessly. Hawthorne drops back looking for a leg! Sandford is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sandford manages to kick Hawthorne off! Hawthorne jumps back into Sandford's guard. Sandford has Hawthorne pulled in close to control his posture. Hawthorne drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sandford dives on top into guard. Sandford stands up from guard. Let's bang! Lance Hawthorne is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sandford looks to land a combination. Hawthorne sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Sandford looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
