Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Money Penny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Money Penny!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penny is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Penny tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ross avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ross showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Penny.
Penny is looking to clinch but Ross is avoiding it.

Ross shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ross showed some decent athleticism there.
Ross is keen to just control but Penny is a slippery customer.
Ross throws a strike but Penny avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Ross trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ross pushes down on Penny's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ross is tying to control. Penny wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ross throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ross wants to take a breather but Penny is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ross throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ross thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Penny's head.

Penny avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ross.
Penny is staying active underneath Ross, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Penny tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Money Penny is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Penny tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ross looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ross works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ross looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penny with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Penny on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Penny is staying active underneath Ross, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ross lands a nice short elbow.
Ross takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ross wants to take a breather but Penny is having none of it.

Ross missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Penny blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ross.
Ross seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penny does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Penny avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ross.
Ross wants to take a breather but Penny is having none of it.
Ross thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Penny tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ross swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Penny misses with a head kick.
Penny looks gassed!
Penny tries to clinch there but Ross circles away.
Penny throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Penny doesn't manage to clinch there - Ross circles away.
Penny misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ross shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ross is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Ross trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ross loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ross is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ross postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ross throws a big right hand that misses.
Ross content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ross has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ross wants to control from the top but Penny keeps moving.
Ross passes Penny's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Ross dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ross shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Penny but Penny pushes him off and we're back to square one.
An inside leg kick lands from Penny.
Horrible takedown by Ross or perhaps it was just good defense by Penny which made him look bad.
Penny is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Penny, right into the meat.
Penny slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Penny throws a head kick that misses.
Shane Ross is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Penny tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance.
Penny lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


Ross is rocked!


It looks like Shane Ross has been cut.
Penny tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ross swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Oh Ross is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ross looks to score with a jab to the body but Penny is just out of range.
Ross seems to have got his legs back now.
Ross avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Penny tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance.
Penny keeps Ross at a distance using the push kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penny throws a head kick that misses.
Ross fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Ross. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Penny tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Penny looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ross keeps the fight on the outside.
Penny tries to work over Ross's front leg with a kick but Ross checks it.
A head kick misses from Penny.
Ross looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penny is fending him off so far but Ross persists. Nope, Penny circles away and we're back to standing.
Penny wants to clinch up but Ross keeps it at a distance.
Penny lands with a big left! Ross is wobbled badly! Penny comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Ross to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Money Penny!
