PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and phil polaris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by Country Boys Can Survice, Hank Williams Jr.. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jackson Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, phil polaris!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
polaris gets back to half guard.
Walker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
polaris wants to control but Walker is keeping busy and won't allow it.

polaris looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
polaris is refusing to be controlled, as Walker sits in half guard.
polaris works his way to full guard. Good work.
Walker trying to control but polaris is working from the bottom.
Walker in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Walker postures up in polaris's guard and throws a big left but polaris blocks it.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jackson Walker.
Walker closes this distance looking for a takedown but polaris circles away.

Walker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but polaris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Walker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if polaris can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
polaris has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walker is working away from the top position though.

polaris is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Walker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

polaris makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Walker has a takedown stuffed.
polaris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jackson Walker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

polaris is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Walker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time polaris.
Walker slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Walker wants to sweep but no luck.
Walker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Walker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. polaris is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Walker.
Walker tries to bench press polaris off him but polaris keeps the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
polaris's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Walker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Walker gets caught flat footed, as polaris shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Walker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
polaris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Walker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Walker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as polaris controls the pace.

polaris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
polaris is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Walker is on top in guard.
Walker works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

phil polaris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Walker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

polaris pushes Walker off and scrambles back to his feet.
polaris is looking to clinch but Walker is avoiding it.

Walker has one foot on polaris's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
polaris shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

polaris tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Walker smiles and moves away.

and polaris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Walker looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
polaris fails to pull the fight into his guard.
polaris jumps guard but Walker stands there with polaris around his waist. polaris gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Walker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from polaris.
Walker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but polaris gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Walker swings away with an uppercut that misses.

polaris is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walker is aware though and is defending well.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now polaris is on top in guard.
Walker is trying to control the position but polaris postures up.
polaris is fighting to break Walker's control of his arms but Walker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Jackson Walker has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Walker throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

polaris feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
polaris is trying to maintain the position but Walker is very close to passing his half guard.

phil polaris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well polaris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
