Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Falardo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zig Zag! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Falardo misses with a left hand and Zag counters with a straight right hand. Zag tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Falardo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zag won't be happy with that. Falardo working away. Falardo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Zag down.
Falardo scoring with punches from side control. Falardo controls the position from side control. Zag is looking to reverse the position. Zag is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Falardo has just dragged him back down to the mat. Zag tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Falardo looking to control and managing it successfully. Zag can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Falardo controlling the pace for now. Zag swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Falardo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Zag's face.
Falardo landing strikes from the mount and Zag is in trouble!
Zag is rocked!
It looks like Zig Zag has been cut. Falardo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Zag looks a forlorn figure.
Zag is still in real trouble! Can Falardo finish him? Zag really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Falardo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Zag is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Falardo scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That has opened up Zig Zag's cut even more. Falardo lands a big elbow - Zag is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Zag is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Carlos Falardo!
