Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mooney Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Yam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mooney Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Donnie Yam!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Yam lands a right hook to the body.
Yam lands a nice looking body shot.
Yam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rutten was well out of range. Poor timing from Yam.
Yam jabs Rutten to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Yam throws a body punch but Rutten moves out of range.
Yam is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rutten rather than just go for the knockout.

Rutten darts in and clinches Yam up against the cage.

Rutten's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rutten walks into a stiff left hand from Yam.

Rutten rushes Yam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rutten has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Yam clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Yam is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Rutten.
Yam is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Rutten just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rutten working for a choke but Yam is defending well.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Rutten controlling the positon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rutten's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Mooney Rutten wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Rutten feints and as Yam raises his hands in defense, Rutten changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yam keeping full guard, as Rutten tries to pass.
Rutten slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rutten seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Yam for as long as he can get away with.
Rutten throws and elbow that misses. Yam uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rutten's guard. Nice move by Yam!

Yam is looking to stand up but Rutten won't let him.

We're going to have a standup here because Mooney Rutten wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Rutten has Yam up against the cage in a clinch.

Rutten has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Yam clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Yam fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Yam throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Yam misses the shot to the body.
Rutten throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like Donnie Yam has been cut.
A slow jab from Yam misses its intended target.

Rutten closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yam to the mat! Yam manages to get full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yam working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rutten.
Rutten trying to move into half guard but instead Yam has managed to sweep!
Rutten wants to stand up but Yam is controlling him.
Yam wants to stand but Rutten is controlling his posture from full guard.
Yam is breathing heavily.

Rutten wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mooney Rutten just wasn't active enough.

Rutten clinches up against the cage.

Rutten wants the takedown. Yam is fighting it off but Rutten persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Yam's guard against the cage.

Rutten drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yam looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yam looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yam!

Rutten bucks up and tries to throw Yam off but instead Yam has got his back!
Rutten controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Yam decides to get back to his feet. A strange decision but one that the crowd certainly appreciate.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Yam throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice cross by Yam.
A big left from Yam misses.
Donnie Yam is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rutten moves into range and clinches up with Yam.

Rutten escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rutten lands a jab.

Yam tries to sprawl but Rutten drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rutten is looking for a kimura but Yam is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rutten to get the leverage.

Rutten slows the pace down in half guard.

Rutten is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rutten seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mooney Rutten dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Donnie Yam's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Rutten pushes Yam up against the cage in a clinch.

Rutten jumps into guard, dragging Yam to the mat.
Yam prevents Rutten from getting back to his feet.
Yam has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rutten is proving hard to escape from.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Donnie Yam has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Rutten drops his hands momentarily and Yam takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rutten shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yam's guard.
Yam has a closed guard, preventing Rutten from standing up.
Rutten controls from within his opponent's guard.
Yam takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Yam is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rutten is controlling him.
Rutten stays in close to Yam's body and controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mooney Rutten.
Rutten moves out of range as Yam strikes.
Yam looks to throw the jab but Rutten is out of range.

Rutten shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rutten was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mooney Rutten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mooney Rutten.
Yam takes a swing at Rutten's ribcage but misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Rutten is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Yam can't fight it off and eventually Rutten manages to take the fight to the floor. Yam looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rutten postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rutten controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Rutten shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yam's guard.
Rutten is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mooney Rutten showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rutten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
