Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Janek Formant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joel Sands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joel Sands! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Formant closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Formant lands in his opponent's guard. Formant has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sands looking for a sweep. Not yet Sands, not yet. Sands keeping moving, preventing Formant from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sands is trying hard to land a takedown here. Formant sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Formant gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sands counters with a nice double leg into side control. Formant won't be happy with that. Sands stands up and beckons Formant to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sands tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Formant manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Formant misses with a takedown and Sands counters with a nice body shot. Formant is breathing heavily. Sands lands a leg kick that knocks Formant off balance momentarily. Sands fails to land with a series of punches.
Sands clinches. Nice elbow from Sands. Sands ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sands no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sands is pulling down on Formant's head to control his posture. Sands pushes a forearm under Formant's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Formant is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
