Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronnie Carlton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lukas Daiva!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlton connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Daiva momentarily.
Carlton lands a jab to Daiva's midsection.
Carlton clobbers Daiva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ronnie Carlton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A shot to the liver by Carlton. Beautiful body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daiva doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Carlton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carlton wants it to stay on the feet.
Daiva looks gassed!
Carlton scores with a hook to the body. Daiva takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Carlton waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Daiva. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Daiva to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Daiva is rocked!
It looks like Lukas Daiva has been cut.
Carlton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Daiva is still in real trouble! Can Carlton finish him?
Carlton with a flurry of punches that miss.
Daiva seems to have recovered his senses.
Carlton works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Daiva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carlton frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Carlton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Daiva can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Carlton controlling the pace for now.
Carlton working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Daiva looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Carlton! Submission of the night perhaps?
