The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws an off balance right hand
and Ricardo counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Tony Thompson has been cut.
Ricardo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Thompson finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thompson has closed the distance and engaged Ricardo in a clinch.

Ricardo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Thompson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Thompson throws Ricardo to one side and escapes!

and Thompson counters with a head kick. That will keep Ricardo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Thompson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ricardo moves away.

and Thompson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Ricardo jumps guard but Thompson stands there with Ricardo around his waist. Ricardo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Thompson stalls.
Ricardo takes a knee to the side of the body.
Thompson is pushing Ricardo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Ricardo tries to pull guard but Thompson won't allow it.

Thompson connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ricardo's face.
Ricardo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ricardo tries to pull guard but Thompson holds him up against the cage and eventually Ricardo drops back down to his feet.

Ricardo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thompson smiles and moves away.

Tony Thompson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ricardo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ricardo fails with the takedown
and Thompson makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Ricardo really felt that one!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Thompson is posturing up here but Ricardo has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Thompson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Thompson has to tap! Slick submission there by Ricardo!
