Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Player (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Player's entrance music is Bettie Grind - I'm Floatin'. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Player!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Elkins!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elkins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Player manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Player is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Elkins is controlling him.
Elkins looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Elkins prevents Player from getting back to his feet.
Elkins sitting in guard here, content to control.
Player wants to stand up but Elkins is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Player preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Player is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Elkins shoots in but no luck this time.

Elkins has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Player's face.
Elkins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Elkins is working Player over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Cody Elkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Player enables Elkins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Player manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Elkins won't allow Player to get back to his feet.

Elkins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Player swivels and escapes.

Elkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Player tries to avoid it but Elkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Player to the ground. Player escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Elkins shoots for a takedown but Player saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Player throws a shot from downtown. Elkins moves away and avoids it.
Elkins misses with a takedown attempt - Player sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Elkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Elkins takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Elkins.

Elkins has hold of Player's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Player seems comfortable defending it but Elkins has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Player is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Player is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Elkins couldn't care less - he's delighted!
