Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Castello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohamed Pataxo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pataxo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: La Serenissima ( Work That Body Remix ). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauro Castello! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mohamed Pataxo! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pataxo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Castello closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pataxo to the mat! Pataxo manages to get full guard. Castello working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Pataxo looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pataxo working for a triangle but Castello defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pataxo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Castello defends it easily. Pataxo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Castello's corner is telling him to maintain position. Pataxo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Castello. Castello stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pataxo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Castello's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castello wants to pass the guard but Pataxo is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mauro Castello. Pataxo gets the takedown into side control. Castello manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pataxo's best efforts. Castello has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pataxo is looking for a kimura here.
Castello wants to improve his position but Pataxo is controlling well.
Castello is pressing down on Pataxo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Pataxo being controlled here momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Castello keeping full guard, as Pataxo tries to pass. Pataxo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Castello trying to keep a closed guard but Pataxo is proving a slippery customer.
Castello striking off his back but it's not causing Pataxo any problems. Castello has his hands on Pataxo's head, controlling the position. Pataxo passes easily into side control. Nice work. Castello is breathing heavily. Pataxo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Castello rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pataxo's guard! Nice work there by Castello!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castello is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Pataxo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pataxo is looking for a triangle but Castello pushes his legs off easily.
Castello stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pataxo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pataxo working for a triangle but Castello defends it easily.
Castello passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Castello not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Castello works his way into side control. Castello has knee on belly and moves into mount. Castello throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Pataxo is looking to get to half guard. A nice elbow there by Castello. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauro Castello dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pataxo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Castello manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Castello misses with a takedown attempt so Pataxo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Castello is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pataxo wants to improve his position but Castello is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Castello seems content to control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Castello throws a jab when Pataxo was well out of range. Pataxo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Pataxo pushes Castello up against the cage in a clinch. Castello has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pataxo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pataxo tries to score a body lock takedown but Castello shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Pataxo pulls guard. Castello stands up over Pataxo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Castello tries to stand but Pataxo is controlling from the bottom. Pataxo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Castello is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pataxo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pataxo is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Castello is controlling him well. Mauro Castello overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pataxo looking for a sweep but Castello has passed into full mount! Oh no! Pataxo tries to lock up and control but Castello gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Castello sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Castello is standing up, even though he is in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pataxo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castello to the mat! Castello manages to get full guard. Pataxo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Castello has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Pataxo doesn't defend quickly enough and Castello has managed to lock this one up! Can Pataxo escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Castello on a fantastic submission victory.
