PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between AS Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks has chosen Eminem-Not Afraid as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
A head kick misses from Kane.
Brooks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kane gets caught flat footed, as Brooks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kane looking to control but Brooks passes into half guard.
Kane is breathing heavily.
Brooks controlling the action here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Brooks wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kane tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kane misses with a head kick.

Brooks feints and as Kane raises his hands in defense, Brooks changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Brooks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jack Brooks has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Kane closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Brooks scores with a takedown into Kane's guard.
Brooks stays in close to Kane's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kane has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Brooks has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Brooks dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Brooks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kane will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Brooks passes Kane's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Brooks slows the pace down in half guard.
Kane wants to sweep but Brooks has passed to side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee asks Brooks politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Brooks prefers to stall for the moment though.
Kane tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Brooks controls the action.

Brooks is hanging on to Kane's back as he tries to escape.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Brooks was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Kane throws a head kick that misses.
A punch combination from Kane misses.
Brooks avoids the head kick by Kane.

Brooks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kane sprawls well initially but Brooks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Brooks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brooks showed some decent athleticism there.

Kane trying to get back to full guard but Brooks takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Brooks takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Brooks wasn't active enough on the ground.
Brooks fails with the takedown.

Kane displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brooks.
Kane throws a head kick that misses.
Kane tries a head kick but it misses.
Kane throws a head kick but Brooks moves out of range.

Brooks's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
