Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Conner Magavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conner Magavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, George Penn!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn swings for the body but Magavin moves out of range.
Penn with a poor takedown
and Magavin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Magavin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


It looks like George Penn has been cut.
Conner Magavin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Magavin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Penn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Magavin trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
Penn can't keep his opponent in guard - Magavin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Magavin throws a strike but Penn avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Penn working for a triangle but Magavin defends it easily.
Magavin wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.

Magavin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Magavin slips nicely into half guard.

Magavin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Penn is just riding it out for now. Magavin eventually gives up the hold.

Magavin decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Penn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Magavin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Penn looks gassed!
Penn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Penn takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Magavin cracks the inside of Penn's front leg.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Magavin, right into the meat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Magavin lands a leg kick that knocks Penn off balance momentarily.

Magavin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Magavin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Magavin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Magavin lands with a punch from half guard.

Magavin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Magavin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Magavin lands strikes from half guard.

Magavin winds up and cracks Penn with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Magavin is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Magavin moves nicely into side control.

Magavin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well.
Magavin cracks Penn with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Magavin working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Magavin cracks Penn with a big elbow.

Magavin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on George Penn's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Magavin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Magavin lands with a right hand.
A head kick misses from Magavin.
Penn takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Magavin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Magavin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

and Magavin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Penn is staying active underneath Magavin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Magavin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Magavin wants to take a breather but Penn is having none of it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Magavin lands a nice short elbow.
Penn has hold of Magavin's hands but Magavin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Magavin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Penn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Conner Magavin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Magavin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Penn's head.
Penn is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Magavin scores with a couple of nice shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Magavin slows the pace down in half guard.
Magavin uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.
Penn is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Magavin lands a big elbow.
Magavin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Penn can do to turn this around?
Magavin scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Magavin postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Penn looks a forlorn figure.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Magavin lands a heavy elbow.
Magavin in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The referee warns Penn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Magavin wants to finish this one by submission but Penn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Magavin.

Penn has left one of his arms exposed and Magavin doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Penn screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
