PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dean Lightning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dean Lightning has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dean Lightning seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Richards!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightning needs to keep his hands up - Richards had a free shot at his head there.
Richards throws a shot to the body.

Lightning drives through and clinches with Richards against the cage.
Richards scores with a shoulder strike.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Richards.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Richards.
Richards lands with a light punch inside.
A short right from Richards on the inside.

It looks like Dean Lightning has been cut.
Richards lands a left hand.
Lightning changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Richards fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Richards connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lightning. Lightning circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Richards smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lightning shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Richards as he jumps to the side.
Richards swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Richards comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A bone on bone clash there as Richards blocks the leg kick.
Richards lands a nice hook to Lightning's body. Lightning takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lightning is breathing heavily.
Richards stuns Lightning with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Good standup being displayed there by Richards as he connects with a hook.
Richards lands with a shot to the body.
Richards cracks Lightning with a good jab.
Richards connects with a right hand. Lightning shakes it off.
A jab from Richards finds it's way through Lightning's defenses.
Lightning moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Lightning takes one on the chin but seems OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lightning takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Richards lands with an uppercut that bounces Lightning off the cage and back into rage.
Nice body punch from Richards.
Richards connects with a body shot that sends Lightning's belly button to the back.
Richards lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A left and a right from Richards both land. Nice combination.
Richards throws a leg kick that misses.
Derek Richards is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Richards throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lightning on the side of the head.
Danga de danga de dang - Richards scores with a four punch combination!

Lightning is rocked!
Lightning drops his hands for a split second and Richards immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Lightning face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Richards follows up with a right hand that knocks Lightning into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
