Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Potemkin Buster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chad Herbstreit! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herbstreit throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Herbstreit throws a predictable looking body shot
and Buster counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Herbstreit lands a jab to the head.
Herbstreit misses with a hook to the body
and Buster connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Herbstreit scores with a three punch combo!
Buster dives in and grabs Herbstreit's left leg, looking for a takedown. Herbstreit pushes down on Buster's head and hops out. Buster shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Herbstreit sprawls well. Herbstreit wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buster gets slowly back to his feet. Herbstreit swings away with a body shot that misses
and Buster counters with a lovely straight right hand! Herbstreit fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Buster manages to avoid it. Herbstreit throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Herbstreit misses the shot to the body. Nice defenses there by Buster. Herbstreit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good shot there by Buster. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Herbstreit throws a combination that misses and Buster counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Buster is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Herbstreit sees it coming and defends easily. Herbstreit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Buster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buster is trying to control the action in half guard but Herbstreit is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Herbstreit is looking for a sweep. Buster is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Herbstreit keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Buster is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Herbstreit is just riding it out for now. Buster eventually gives up the hold. Herbstreit is trying to maintain the position but Buster is very close to passing his half guard. Buster looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Buster maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Herbstreit could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Buster has cracked it and Herbstreit is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Buster!
