Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Bone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Shields!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields looks to throw the jab but Bone is out of range.
Shields looks for a takedown but Bone sprawls well.
Bone lands with a kick to the temple. Shields shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A slapping leg kick lands for Shields.
Bone looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bone defending well as Shields loads up on a big left hand.
Shields on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Shields swings for the body but Bone moves out of range.
Shields has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Bone.
Bone throws a front kick that sends Shields stumbling back into the cage.
Shields lands with a kick to the ribs.
Shields fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bone takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bone chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Bone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Jay Bone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bone fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Shields has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shields ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

A head kick misses from Bone.
A telegraphed right hand from Shields misses the target.
Bone is looking to slow Shields down with leg kicks.
Shields throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bone's waist but Bone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shields off to one side.
Jay Bone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Shields.

Bone has had enough of the clinch but Shields keeps him there for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bone is trying to force a seperation but Shields has the dominant position.

Shields digs a right hand into Bone's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Bone's gas tank.

That's time! Bone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Shields does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Bone throws out a leg kick but Shields moves out of range and Bone only half commits.

Bone takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shields thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bone's head.

Shields seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Bone has recovered full guard.
Shields has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Shields postures up in Bone's guard and throws a big left but Bone blocks it.
Bone keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully.
Shields throws and elbow that misses. Bone uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shields's guard. Nice move by Bone!
Shields is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Shields bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bone's guard.

Shields throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Shields is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bone is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Shields has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Bone!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bone blocking the ground and pound.

Shields cracks Bone with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jay Bone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

David Shields comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Shields winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
