The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Molina thuds a left hand into Piqueno's body. Piqueno shoots for a double leg takedown but Molina sprawls well. He's pushed Piqueno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sloppy strikes from Molina. Those never looked like landing. Molina scores with a nice strike. Molina throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Molina throws a series of punches but Piqueno moves out of range. Molina misses with a jab to the body
and Piqueno counters with a single leg into guard. Molina didn't expect that. Piqueno drops back, looking for a kneebar! Molina looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Molina looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Molina! Molina wants to lay and pray for a moment but Piqueno keeps working. Piqueno gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Molina is looking to take a break and control but Piqueno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Molina throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
