Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jean Paul Valley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Hondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Valley might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 2pac-Street Fame. Jean Paul Valley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Paul Valley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trent Hondo! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hondo swats away the attempt to clinch by Valley. Valley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hondo, pushing him back against the cage. Hondo tries to circle away but Valley has him pinned against the cage. Valley holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Valley for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Hondo prevents a takedown attempt there.

Valley lands an elbow just above Hondo 's eye. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jean Paul Valley. Valley tries to clinch but Hondo moves out of range. Valley scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Valley not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Valley in particular looking to stall. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hondo can do anything to dispel that myth. Valley drops an elbow to the side of Hondo's head. Hondo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hondo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Valley stops Hondo from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Valley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hondo keeps working. Valley working over Hondo with some ground and pound. Hondo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Valley missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Valley seems to be working for a kimura but Hondo defends the submission attempt. Valley wants to control but Hondo is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valley is taking a breather. Hondo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Valley is trying to control the action in half guard but Hondo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hondo wants to get back to his feet. Valley working the head and body with strikes. Valley slips a nice elbow through Hondo's hands, connecting with Hondo's forehead. Valley throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Valley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hondo's head. Valley is trying to work for a kimura but Hondo is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Valley is trying to control. Hondo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hondo looks to score with a jab to the body but Valley is just out of range. Hondo lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Hondo lands a jab to the nose. Valley tries to clinch up. Valley shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hondo is trying to defend but Valley finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Valley throwing shots but Hondo is blocking nicely. Valley trying to control the action but Hondo is working from the bottom.

Valley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hondo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Valley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hondo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Valley is looking to work some ground and pound but Hondo has wrist control. Valley trying to control the position from guard on top but Hondo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hondo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hondo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Hondo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Valley trying to control the position from guard on top but Hondo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Valley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Valley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valley engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Valley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Valley throwing strikes from guard but Hondo blocks nicely. Valley wants to control from the top but Hondo keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Valley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We're going to have a standup here because Jean Paul Valley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Valley fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hondo on the side of the head.
It looks like Trent Hondo has been cut. Valley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hondo as he jumps to the side. Valley lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Trent Hondo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hondo lands with a straight right. Valley didn't see that one coming. Valley is looking to clinch. Valley ducks right into an uppercut from Hondo. Hondo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hondo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Valley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Valley wants to control from the top but Hondo keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight moves into the clinch position. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Valley just misses with a elbow thrown towards Hondo's brow. Hondo wants to break free but Valley has control.
Valley is working for takedown but Hondo is calmly controlling the position for now. Hondo wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Valley holding his opponent close, against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Valley is leaning against Hondo and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Hondo gets underhooks to prevent Valley's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jean Paul Valley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valley taking a breather. Valley drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hondo pulls his leg out and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight! Jean Paul Valley showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Valley, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
