The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Belfort sprawling to the canvas. Johnson follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Belfort hang on?
It looks like Paulo Belfort has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belfort is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnson.
Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.
Johnson trying to mount his opponent but Belfort defends it.
Johnson is looking for a kimura but Belfort is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.
Belfort wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson wants to work for an arm triangle but Belfort is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Belfort manages to escape and get back to his feet!
A jab-cross combination lands for Johnson and sends Belfort crashing to the mat! Johnson follows him down to the mat - Belfort regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Belfort looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Belfort pushes Johnson off and gets back to his feet.
Belfort glances at the clock... BAM! Johnson nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Belfort crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Belfort is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
