Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mamed Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ali Issa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Silva wants to control but Issa is keeping him busy.
Issa tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Issa keeps working.
Issa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.
Silva thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Issa to regain full guard.
Silva throwing strikes but missing.
Issa is controlling Silva's posture.
Issa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ali Issa was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Issa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Issa wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Issa stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.
Silva controls Issa momentarily but Issa frees himself.
Issa works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Issa works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Silva tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva is squirming around, avoiding Issa's attempts to control the action.
Silva is looking to get to half guard.
The referee warns Silva that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Silva is trying to escape the mount.
Issa lands a heavy elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Issa controlling from the full mount.
I looks like Issa might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Issa unloading with bombs!
Issa throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Silva has his hands clasped together but Issa breaks the hold and Silva is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Issa!
