Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Tantay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tantay misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McPain tries to clinch up but Tantay circles away and keeps his distance.

Tantay shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tantay showed some decent athleticism there.
Tantay wants to stand up but McPain has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Tantay seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McPain looking for submissions off his back.
Tantay stalling.
Tantay trying to mount his opponent but McPain defends it.
McPain is trying to maintain the position but Tantay is very close to passing his half guard.
McPain is looking to improve his position.
McPain is not content to let Tantay control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Tantay drives through and clinches with McPain against the cage.
Tantay jumps guard but McPain stands there with Tantay around his waist. Tantay gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tantay controlling the action here for a moment.
A head punch on the inside from McPain fails to land.
McPain lands a right hand that snaps the head of Tantay backwards.
Tantay wants to get back to striking at distance but McPain won't allow it.
McPain tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Tantay tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McPain smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Tantay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tantay misses with a body kick.
Tantay fails to land the takedown.
Tantay is breathing heavily.
McPain is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

McPain sneaks back into half guard.
McPain is staying active underneath Tantay, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

McPain is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Tantay pulls his head out easily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tantay in particular looking to stall.
McPain is refusing to be controlled, as Tantay sits in half guard.
McPain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

McPain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tantay lands a couple of elbows.

McPain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tantay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tantay manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McPain throws his legs up looking for a submission but Tantay uses it to pass to side control.
Tantay advances to full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tantay sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
McPain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tantay controlling the position easily from mount.
Tantay with the ground and pound from mount.

Tantay's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
McPain wants to control but Tantay is having none of it.

McPain keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

McPain is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tantay can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McPain is looking to escape.

Tantay shoots in and drives through. McPain sprawls well.
Ryan Tantay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tantay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Tantay darts in and clinches McPain up against the cage.
Tantay is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McPain gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tantay wants a takedown but no success here.

Tantay tries to land knees in the clinch but McPain avoids the damage to the body.
Tantay is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McPain pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Tantay wants the takedown. McPain is fighting it off but Tantay persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in McPain's guard against the cage.

McPain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McPain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Tantay is nestled in close to McPain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
McPain is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tantay is just content to waste time from the top position. McPain takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
McPain looking for a sweep. Not yet McPain, not yet.
Tantay wanted to stand there but McPain had control of the position.

Tantay postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McPain keeping moving, preventing Tantay from controlling successfully.

McPain working for a triangle but Tantay defends it easily.
Tantay pushes down on McPain's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Well, if Tantay is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Ryan Tantay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McPain lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

McPain jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
McPain lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Tantay can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from McPain and Tantay drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by McPain.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew McPain!
