Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Bott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Norton! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bott shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bott was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bott wants to take Norton's back but he can't do it this time. Bott takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Norton wants to try and get back to his feet. Bott throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Norton because Bott loaded up on that one. Bott sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Bott misses with a head shot. Bott controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bott is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Norton is surviving well by controlling Bott's body position as best he can. Bott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Norton's face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bott misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Bott working for a submission but Norton is keeping him at bay. Bott throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Norton because Bott loaded up on that one. Bott sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Bott unloads with some shots from mount but Norton bucks and avoids them well.
Bott moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Norton has worked his arm free - good work by Norton!
Bott tries for a kimura but Norton is defending well. Bott working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bott is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Norton wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Bott thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Bott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Norton keeps working. Bott wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Norton, who protects the arm well. Bott working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Norton wants to get back to his feet. Bott tries for a kimura but Norton is defending well. Norton wants to get back to his feet. Bott just content to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Norton managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bott.
Norton is pushing Bott's head away, looking to escape. Bott manages to hold on to the position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Bott scoring with punches and elbows. The ground and pound from Bott seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Bott is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Norton looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bott gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Norton is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bott lets go of the hold and Norton can pop his arm back in it's socket.
