PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Trill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Gurvits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trill comes to the cage accompanied by They Will Kill Us All - The Bronx. The key to victory for Andrew Trill has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Trill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Gurvits!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurvits takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Trill misses with a looping right.
Gurvits shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Trill as he avoids it easily.
Gurvits shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Trill as he jumps to the side.
Trill looks to throw the jab but Gurvits is out of range.

Gurvits shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Trill is trying to defend but Gurvits finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gurvits seems to be working for a kimura but Trill defends the submission attempt.
Gurvits looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Trill is trying is best to control the position here.

Gurvits is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Trill sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gurvits seems to be looking for submissions.
Trill tries to kick Gurvits off but Gurvits keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Gurvits seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Trill does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gurvits is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

I looks like Gurvits might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gurvits is trying to control. Trill wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Andy Gurvits has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A telegraphed right hand from Trill misses the target.
Trill throws a combination. Gurvits tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Andrew Trill is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gurvits throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Trill's waist but Trill gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gurvits off to one side.
Andrew Trill has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Gurvits.
Trill throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gurvits sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gurvits tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trill sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gurvits somewhat.
Trill swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gurvits uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Trill.
Gurvits fails with a takedown attempt.
A big right from Trill misses.
Trill throws a jab but it's blocked by Gurvits.
Gurvits should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Gurvits closes the distance and clinches up with Trill, looking for a takedown. Gurvits pushes Trill against the cage but Trill circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gurvits takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Trill misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed right hand from Trill misses the target.
Trill misses with a looping right.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gurvits is defended easily by Trill.
Gurvits tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trill sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gurvits somewhat.
Gurvits is trying hard to land a takedown here. Trill sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gurvits shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Trill manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Gurvits stands and throws Trill's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gurvits tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Trill dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Trill lands a nice shot to the body.
Gurvits moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Andy Gurvits has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Trill connects with a jab.
Trill throws a jab but it's blocked by Gurvits.
Gurvits takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Trill paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gurvits is holding his hands too far apart here. Trill throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Gurvits is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andrew Trill!
