Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Hawk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivo Petric! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petric shoots in but no luck this time. Petric lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Mike Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Petric gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hawk counters with a straight right hand. Hawk moves in looking to clinch but Petric pushes him off. Hawk misses with a leg kick and Petric counters with a one-two to the body. Petric shoots and misses and Hawk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Petric's guard. Mike Hawk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivo Petric. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hawk trying to control but Petric is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hawk throws a big right hand that misses. Hawk passes Petric's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hawk missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hawk sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Petric defending well though. Hawk wants to control but Petric is keeping him busy. Petric tries to roll over but Hawk keeps him under control. Hawk wants to take a breather but Petric is having none of it.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Hawk wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Hawk checks the leg kick nicely there.
Hawk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Petric. Hawk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Petric tries to land a sweep but no joy. Petric preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Petric is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Petric throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hawk stands up from guard. Let's bang! Hawk throws a left and a right that both miss
and Petric counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hawk! Hawk is breathing heavily. Hawk tries to hold on but Petric pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawk is looking to improve his position but Petric isn't that keen on the idea. Petric really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Petric raining down shots from the mount! Hawk can't escape the position.
Hawk tries to lock up and control but Petric gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Hawk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Petric is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hawk is surviving well by controlling Petric's body position as best he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petric tries to control but Hawk wriggling away. Hawk keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hawk has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Hawk wants to get back to his feet. Petric is trying to stick to Hawk's back but Hawk is turning into Petric. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Petric's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hawk.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hawk gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Petric gets tackled into the cage by Hawk. Hawk maintains the clinch. Petric jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawk walks away with a smile on his face. Petric gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Hawk tries a low kick but Petric avoids it. Hawk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hawk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Petric's guard. Hawk postures up.
Petric lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hawk! Petric working Hawk over with strikes here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hawk regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Hawk dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Petric clinches up against the cage. Hawk manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Hawk is trying to control the position but Petric postures up. Hawk looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawk, not yet. Petric won't allow Hawk to get back to his feet. Hawk looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawk, not yet. Hawk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hawk kicks Petric off and gets to his feet. Petric closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hawk circles away. Petric circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Petric swats away the attempt to clinch by Hawk. Hawk closes the distance and clinches. Hawk misses with an elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petric wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. A nice glancing elbow lands by Hawk. Petric breaks from the clinch.
Petric circles away from the clinch attempt.
Petric checks a low kick from Hawk. Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch but Petric swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hawk throws a combination that misses and Petric counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hawk tries to improve position but can't. Mike Hawk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Petric stands up and we're back to a striking position. Hawk misses with a combination
and Petric counters by clinching up. Hawk throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Hawk tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Hawk throws an elbow but it misses.
Hawk can't break the clinch.
Petric looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Petric has hold of one of Hawk's legs. Hawk is fighting the takedown attempt but Petric gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Petric wants to control from the top but Hawk keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawk pushes Petric off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hawk tries to clinch but Petric moves out of range. Hawk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Petric counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Petric has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hawk avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Hawk lands a nice elbow. Hawk pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Hawk tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Hawk tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Petric smiles and moves away.
Hawk is looking to land body kicks. A thudding body kick lands there by Petric!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawk will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Petric tries for a takedown but Hawk circles away easily and Hawk counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Petric's guard now. Mike Hawk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivo Petric. Hawk looking to pass the guard. Petric working a defensive guard here.
Hawk thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hawk is fighting to break Petric's control of his arms but Petric is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hawk passes Petric's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Petric is staying active underneath Hawk, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Petric tries to get to full guard but Hawk has control of the leg. Hawk is keen to just control but Petric is a slippery customer. Hawk takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Petric tries to roll over but Hawk keeps him under control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hawk lands with a punch from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ivo Petric will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Hawk tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Petric paws at him with a jab and circles away. Hawk throws a combination. Petric tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Ivo Petric has been cut. Petric has his takedown stuffed and Hawk makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Hawk fails in his attempt to clinch. Hawk clinches with his opponent.

Hawk is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Hawk tries a knee to the head but Petric blocks it.
Petric has had enough of the clinch but Hawk keeps him there for the moment. Petric is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hawk is keeping busy. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Petric takes a shot to the head. Petric tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hawk smiles and moves away.

Hawk darts in and clinches Petric up against the cage. Hawk scores with a shot to the side of Petric's head. Hawk goes for a takedown attempt but Petric pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petric shoots in looking for a takedown but Hawk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Petric's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Petric throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Some wild striking there from Hawk.
Petric shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hawk throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Hawk with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hawk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hawk lands in his opponent's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hawk is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petric wants to sweep but no luck. Hawk decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Petric, up you get! Petric on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hawk. Hawk obviously looking to wear him down.
Hawk tries to clinch but Petric moves out of range. Petric checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Petric shoots in for a takedown but Hawk shows good takedown defense. Hawk is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Petric's half guard. Petric is trying to control but can't.
Hawk decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Petric keeps the fight on the outside. Petric instigates a clinch. Petric escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hawk throws a leg kick but Petric checks it. Petric fails with the takedown and Hawk counters with a slapping leg kick. Petric showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hawk.
Petric closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hawk circles away. Hawk pushes Petric up against the cage in a clinch. Petric breaks from the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hawk tries to keep at a distance but Petric has taken the fight into the clinch. Hawk with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Hawk lands a nice uppercut. Hawk lands an uppercut.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike Hawk showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hawk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
