Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommie Chong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, cain velasqs!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from velasqs is predictable there

and Chong counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chong trying to control the position from guard on top but velasqs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chong slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Chong fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chong throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
velasqs regains half guard.
Chong throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
velasqs wants to get back to full guard.
Chong throwing shots but velasqs is blocking nicely.
velasqs tries to get to full guard but Chong has control of the leg.
velasqs is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
velasqs trying to control but Chong postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
velasqs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Chong.

velasqs looking for submissions off his back.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chong in particular looking to stall.
velasqs wants to control but Chong is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chong not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Chong with the ground and pound but velasqs uses the opportunity to regain guard.
velasqs trying to keep a closed guard but Chong is proving a slippery customer.
Chong preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chong is looking to work some ground and pound but velasqs has wrist control.
Chong thows a big elbow that misses.
Chong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
velasqs is trying to control the position but Chong postures up.
Chong trying to stand up but can't free himself from velasqs's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Chong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
velasqs controls Chong momentarily but Chong frees himself.

velasqs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but velasqs is tightening it up a little... Chong has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Chong reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Chong taps out! nice BJJ there by velasqs!
