PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dhughel McVey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson comes to the cage accompanied by bad to the bone. McVey has chosen Jump Around by House of Pain as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dhughel McVey!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McVey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and McVey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

McVey walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


It looks like Dhughel McVey has been cut.

enabling McVey to counter with a crisp jab.
A kick lands to the mid section there for McVey.

Mike Tyson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McVey counters with a thumping low kick.

McVey closes the distance and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tyson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

McVey gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Tyson regains guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

McVey has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and McVey counters with a shoot takedown. Tyson fights it but they end up in guard.

McVey thows a huge punch but Tyson dodges it nicely.

McVey is looking to take a break and control but Tyson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from McVey is defended easily by Tyson.

It looks like Mike Tyson has been cut.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

McVey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tyson manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McVey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McVey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tyson but Tyson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tyson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McVey controls the pace.
McVey is pushing down on Tyson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tyson is fighting to maintain full guard but McVey has managed to sneak the leg through.

Dhughel McVey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McVey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
