PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Krystof Mckay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Krystof Mckay!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Partridge!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partridge connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Partridge misses with a low kick.
Steve Partridge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Partridge lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Partridge fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mckay is out of range.
Partridge throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mckay on the side of the head.
Donk. Partridge catches Mckay right on the button with a cross.

Mckay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mckay throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Partridge regains half guard.
Mckay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Partridge pushes Mckay off looking to stand but Mckay dives back in and keeps control.
Mckay stalling away here and it's allowed Partridge to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Mckay throwing strikes from guard but Partridge blocks nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Partridge pulls Mckay in close to his closed guard and prevents Mckay from doing any damage or advancing position.
Partridge's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Mckay has gone for a leg lock! Partridge slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mckay's guard.
Mckay has a closed guard, preventing Partridge from standing up.
Partridge not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mckay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mckay looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Partridge passes Mckay's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mckay wants to control but Partridge is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Partridge tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Mckay tries to get to full guard but Partridge has control of the leg.
Partridge content to control rather than advance.

Mckay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Partridge tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Mckay is looking to improve his position.
Partridge is looking to pass Mckay's guard but actually Mckay recovers to full guard.
Mckay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Partridge manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mckay drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Partridge manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mckay has Partridge in his guard.
Mckay is breathing heavily.
Partridge controlling from the top position.

Partridge gets to his feet - Mckay follows without any prompting.
Mckay ducks right into an uppercut from Partridge.
Partridge lands a slapping body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Partridge dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Partridge connects with a leg kick. Mckay looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mckay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Partridge pushes Mckay away with a front kick.
Mckay misses with a left hand
and Partridge counters with a nice leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A chopping leg kick lands by Partridge.
Partridge connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Partridge thuds his shin into the meat of Mckay's side.
Left hook, right uppercut from Partridge.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Partridge throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Partridge feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mckay's calf.
A solid leg kick lands there for Partridge.
A nice inside leg kick there by Partridge. That's going to slow Mckay down.
Partridge digs a good body shot into Mckay's ribs.
Partridge moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Partridge lands a nice shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Partridge thows a body kick. Mckay tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Partridge connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Partridge fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mckay has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mckay crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Partridge - the referee stops the clock and Mckay gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Partridge. Mckay manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Mckay takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Donk. Partridge catches Mckay right on the button with a cross.
Partridge moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Partridge lands the left hand.
Steve Partridge seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Partridge connects with a leg kick. Mckay looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A jab from Partridge does it's job there.
Partridge uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Partridge lands with a thumping leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A slapping leg kick lands for Partridge.
Mckay moves forwards but Partridge connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Partridge cracks Mckay with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Partridge throws a front kick that sends Mckay stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A jab lands there for Partridge.
Partridge scores with a nice head shot.
Partridge scores with a head kick. Mckay tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


Mckay is rocked!
Partridge steps in with a hook that catches Mckay right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Partridge follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Mckay looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Partridge!
