The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Watson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Karales tries to escape but Watson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Owen Watson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Karales throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watson's waist but Watson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Karales off to one side.
Karales tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Watson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Karales thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Watson if he has to take too many more of those.

Karales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Karales shoots in for a takedown but Watson shows good takedown defense.

Watson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Karales tries to free his leg and advance position but Watson is retaining full guard.

Karales forces his way into half guard.
Karales is keen to just control but Watson is a slippery customer.
Karales not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Karales tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Watson.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Karales shoots and misses

and Watson counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Karales. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karales sneaks back into half guard.
Karales wants to control but Watson is keeping busy.
Watson uses his free foot to push down on Karales's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Karales.
Watson content just to control the position here.

Watson content to control rather than advance.
Owen Watson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Watson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Karales controls his leg.
Karales is trying to get back to full guard.
Watson is thwarting Karales's attempts to control the position.
Watson prevents Karales from improving his position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Watson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Karales has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Watson is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Karales rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Watson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Watson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Karales's waist but Karales gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Watson off to one side.
Karales throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Karales fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Watson counters with a single leg into guard. Karales didn't expect that.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karales is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Karales is working for a submission of some sort.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sam Karales will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Karales pulls guard successfully.
Karales is looking to stand up but Watson isn't so interested in that idea.
Karales wants to sweep here but Watson controlling him for the moment.

Watson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Watson seems to have locked his on tight now - Karales screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Watson, as he picks up the win!
