Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bill Del Toro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tatsuya Shinji!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinji scores with a kick to the body.
Del Toro slips a jab and a cross from Shinji.
Del Toro fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shinji sprawls well initially but Del Toro persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Del Toro in particular looking to stall.
Shinji has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Del Toro is working away from the top position though.
Del Toro is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Shinji really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Del Toro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Del Toro seems to be working for a kimura but Shinji defends the submission attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Del Toro seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shinji for as long as he can get away with.
Del Toro is nestled in close to Shinji, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Del Toro is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Del Toro lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Del Toro is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Shinji is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
