Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Mckenna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Nishimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan Mckenna has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Mckenna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shinji Nishimura!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nishimura is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mckenna is pressed up against the cage. Nishimura has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mckenna down to the mat. Mckenna avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nishimura closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mckenna circles away.
Mckenna lands an overhand right.

Mckenna has Nishimura up against the cage in a clinch.
Mckenna is pressed up against the cage. Nishimura has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mckenna down to the mat. Mckenna avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jordan Mckenna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinji Nishimura.

Mckenna shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mckenna showed some decent athleticism there.
Nishimura has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mckenna is working away from the top position though.

Nishimura pushes Mckenna off looking to stand but Mckenna dives back in and keeps control.
Nishimura wants to control but Mckenna is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like Mckenna is going to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nishimura shoots for a double leg takedown but Mckenna sprawls well. He's pushed Nishimura's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nishimura takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mckenna is breathing heavily.
Well, if Nishimura is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Nishimura is looking to take a break and control but Mckenna is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mckenna is trying to control but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Shinji Nishimura just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nishimura might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mckenna kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mckenna throws a body punch but Nishimura moves out of range.
Mckenna closes the distance but Nishimura moves to the side

and Nishimura counters with a single leg into guard. Mckenna didn't expect that.

Nishimura wants to take a breather but Mckenna is having none of it.

Nishimura should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mckenna feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nishimura holds on and takes a little breather.
Mckenna has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nishimura bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mckenna's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nishimura seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
