Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Martini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sufjan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevens comes into a darkened arena with his song building. They Are Zombies kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Martini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sufjan Stevens! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martini avoids the head kick by Stevens.
Stevens uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Martini. Martini throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Martini gets in close and instigates a clinch. Martini tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Martini closes the distance and pushes Stevens back into the cage. Stevens is trying to push Martini away but Martini has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Marcos Martini has scored more points in the clinch so far. Stevens breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Martini is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. A good leg kick by Martini. Martini tries to clinch but Stevens is having none of it. Stevens doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Martini tries a low kick but Stevens avoids it. Stevens tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A shot to the liver by Martini. Beautiful body shot. Jab, jab by Martini - just one landing. Martini dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stevens. That did some damage! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Martini, right into the meat.

Martini tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevens paws at him with a jab and circles away. Martini is looking to wear down Stevens with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Martini stalks Stevens and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Stevens's face. Stevens staggers backwards, shaken.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens throws a sloppy head kick and Martini moves out of range easily. Martini moves in looking to clinch but Stevens pushes him off. Martini wants to clinch and Stevens counters with a shoot takedown. Martini fights it but they end up in guard. Martini manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stevens manages to get himself to full guard.

Martini working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stevens doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stevens manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens won't allow Martini to get back to his feet. Stevens lands a couple of digs. Martini wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment. Martini is working hard here to advance position. Stevens is in close to Martini's body, working some short punches and elbows. Stevens postures up.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcos Martini. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martini, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
