Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Prince Vasquel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Faria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Vasquel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Halo-Street Fighter. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasquel looks for a takedown but Faria sprawls well.
Vasquel tries for a takedown but Faria sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Faria loads up on a big right hand but Vasquel slips the punch.

Vasquel shoots in and drives through. Faria sprawls well.

Vasquel shoots for a double leg takedown but Faria sprawls well. He's pushed Vasquel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Faria wants to clinch up but Vasquel keeps it at a distance.

Faria sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Vasquel to the ground! Faria dives into full mount looking to finish!

It looks like Prince Vasquel has been cut.

Oh Vasquel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Faria wants to get back to his feet but Vasquel is holding on tight.
Vasquel seems to have got his legs back now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vasquel is wriggling around trying to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vasquel wants to improve his position but Faria is controlling well.
Vasquel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vasquel.
Vasquel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Faria is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Vasquel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Faria's back instead.
Vasquel looking to break Faria's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Faria remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Vasquel will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Faria is trying to get back to his feet but Vasquel has full control of the position and if anything, Faria has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Vasquel is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Faria has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Vasquel is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Faria defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Vasquel is looking for the choke from the back position but Faria is controlling his hands well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
