Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nobunaga Shirow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirow scores with a push kick.
Gracie gets a takedown into half guard.
Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Shirow defends the submission attempt.
Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shirow defends it well.
Gracie throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Shirow is trying to stand back up but Gracie is controlling him
Shirow wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shirow manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Shirow in his guard.
Gracie has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shirow is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gracie.

Shirow tries to score with some ground and pound. Gracie controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shirow's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shirow's back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie takes Shirow's back.

Gracie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Shirow has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Gracie is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shirow defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Shirow counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gracie!

Shirow wants to finish this one by submission but Gracie is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shirow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shirow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Shirow eventually gives up the hold.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shirow gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shirow drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shirow jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shirow defends well.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shirow defends it easily.
