Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Xander Lagos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lagos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Lagos fails to pull guard.
Lagos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Silva can't fight it off and eventually Lagos manages to take the fight to the floor. Silva looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lagos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lagos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Lagos stands and steps away. Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lagos throws a sloppy head kick
and Silva connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Silva throws a right hand that Lagos ducks under and follows up with a left that Lagos also avoids with ease.
Silva lands with a right hand.
Silva tries to clinch up but Lagos circles away and keeps his distance.

Silva wants to clinch
and Lagos counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
Lagos with a flurry of punches that miss.
Lagos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lagos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Silva counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lagos closes the distance and clinches.
Lagos wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Lagos persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Lagos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lagos wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lagos works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lagos passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Silva!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lagos shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lagos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lagos has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Silva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Silva throws a right and a left that Lagos avoids nicely.
Silva closes the distance and pushes Lagos back into the cage.
Lagos tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

and Lagos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Silva is breathing heavily.
Lagos looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Xander Lagos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Silva wants to stand and escape but Lagos is having none of it.
Lagos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!
Silva leaves Lagos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lagos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lagos is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lagos to get the leverage.

Lagos is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lagos wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lagos decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lagos fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lagos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silva avoids it really well and circles away.
Lagos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Silva fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lagos is out of range.
Lagos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Good leg kick by Silva there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Lagos throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Silva counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lagos's knee momentarily.
Lagos misses with a double jab
and Silva counters with a nice uppercut.
Lagos gets the takedown into side control.
Lagos is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Lagos passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Silva!

Anderson Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Lagos locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Silva is forced to tap!
