Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Kanehara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Akira Kanehara!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanehara stuffs the takedown.
Kanehara looks to score with a jab to the body but Carter is just out of range.
No luck for Carter with that takedown attempt.
Carter uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kanehara has time to react.
Kanehara misses the shot to the body.
Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Carter jumps into guard, dragging Kanehara to the mat.
Carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kanehara can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrew Carter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Carter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kanehara.

Carter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kanehara tries to avoid it but Carter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kanehara to the ground. Kanehara escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kanehara stalks Carter and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Carter's face. Carter staggers backwards, shaken.

Carter seems to be working for a kimura but Kanehara defends the submission attempt.

Carter is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Carter is thwarting Kanehara's attempts to control the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Carter misses with a takedown attempt - Kanehara sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Let's hope that Kanehara has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Carter has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kanehara doesn't defend quickly enough and Carter has managed to lock this one up! Can Kanehara escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Carter on a fantastic submission victory.
