Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Lauzon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Justin O Reilly! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Reilly is looking to clinch. Lauzon doesn't succeed with the takedown and O Reilly counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lauzon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Matt Lauzon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. O Reilly displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lauzon. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Lauzon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lauzon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
O Reilly gets caught flat footed, as Lauzon shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Lauzon prevents O Reilly from getting back to his feet. Lauzon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Lauzon wants to control from the top but O Reilly keeps moving. O Reilly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lauzon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lauzon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. That's one minute gone in the round. O Reilly can't keep his opponent in guard - Lauzon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O Reilly is trying to stand up here but Lauzon is controlling him well. Lauzon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed O Reilly's head. Lauzon tries to pass to full mount but O Reilly defends it. Lauzon is trying to work for a kimura but O Reilly is defending well.
Lauzon has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can O Reilly defend it? Lauzon steps over the head and cranks it - O Reilly is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lauzon!
