Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hassan Ozdemir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ozdemir's choice of entrance music: The Rap. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hassan Ozdemir! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson tries to move into range but Ozdemir moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Ozdemir displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson. Ozdemir gets caught flat footed, as Johnson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ozdemir can do anything to dispel that myth. Ozdemir working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnson. Johnson won't allow Ozdemir to get back to his feet. Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ozdemir is retaining full guard. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Johnson stops Ozdemir from standing up. Ozdemir preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Johnson content to stall in guard here. Ozdemir keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Ozdemir avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Johnson won't allow Ozdemir to get back to his feet. Johnson is working Ozdemir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Johnson trying to control but Ozdemir is working from the bottom. Johnson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Johnson postures up in Ozdemir's guard and throws a big left but Ozdemir blocks it. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Johnson stops Ozdemir from standing up. Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Johnson wants to control from the top but Ozdemir keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ozdemir is keeping the position for now. Johnson wants to control from the top but Ozdemir keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Kevin Johnson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Ozdemir throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Johnson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Hassan Ozdemir is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ozdemir tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ozdemir ducks under a wild hook from Johnson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ozdemir throws a combination that misses and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Ozdemir didn't expect that. Johnson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ozdemir working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnson. Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ozdemir wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ozdemir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Johnson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. Ozdemir wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Johnson scoring with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson prevents Ozdemir from getting back to his feet. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ozdemir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ozdemir's guard. Johnson working the head and body with strikes. Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ozdemir with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson trying to mount his opponent but Ozdemir defends it. Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Johnson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ozdemir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Johnson lands with a punch from half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnson passes to full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ozdemir back to the cage. Johnson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Hassan Ozdemir has been cut. Ozdemir throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease. Johnson throws a poor cross that misses
and Ozdemir counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Ozdemir to acknowledge the strikes. Some wild striking there from Ozdemir.
Ozdemir lands a nice shot to the body.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson. Johnson staying calm. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson working the head and body with strikes. A lull in the action here. Johnson landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Johnson tries to score with some ground and pound. Ozdemir controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Ozdemir tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Johnson gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson connects with a big shot to the side of Ozdemir's head.
Ozdemir is trapped and Johnson is scoring with shots to the head and body. Johnson tries to keep control of the position but Ozdemir is staying busy. Johnson throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Ozdemir staying busy and making it hard for Johnson to control. Ozdemir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnson scoring with big shots to the body. Ozdemir is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Ozdemir was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kevin Johnson!
